“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Community Opportunities
ATime2Read
Did you know, two out of three students who do not read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up either on welfare or in jail. However, children in poverty who read proficiently by the end of the third grade have an 89% graduation rate.
What can you do about it? You can impact the lives of children, teachers, and families and make a difference in our communities by helping us focus on second-grade reading ability. By becoming a volunteer and partnering with us, other churches, and Walker County public schools to help boost reading proficiency. You do not need a background in education, all you need is a willing heart and the ability to work with a child on a basic sight-word list. We will provide the training. To sign up for training, learn more at our website below:

Bridge Homeless Ministry
Every third Friday of the month we carpool as a group to downtown Houston to hand out food, clothing, and the gospel to the homeless. Everything is donation-based, and volunteers work hard every month to ensure clothes are sorted and ready to go for Bridge. Feel free to join us every third Friday at 4:30 pm in the University Heights Baptist Church parking lot to carpool to downtown Houston! In addition to serving once a month, we are also in need of volunteers to help sort clothing at any time. For more information on sorting clothes, please contact Juli at 936.537.7564. Check out our events page for our upcoming Bridge events.
Prison Ministry
Sports Reach Prison Ministry
God created us all. and people in prison are not much different than the rest of us . 97-98% of them will be released from prison at some point and they will be right back in our communities. Our job is to love them and point them to Jesus. Travis Henderson leads teams into different women prison units, and participates in family days at prisons for offenders and their families. This ministry is a perfect way for women, college students and our church to love on those in prison and fulfill the commands of Christ. For more information and to join, contact Travis Henderson at travish@suddenlink.net or 936-661-2087.
Jubilee Prison Ministry
More than two million Americans are incarcerated. Combined with the other five million people on probation and parole, nearly seven million American adults are under the supervision of the corrections system. These men and women need a new start. They need a new direction. They need a Savior. We happen to know an awesome Rabbi from Galilee who specializes in the business of transforming lives. As it happens, He loves prisoners. At the Jubilee Weekend, we introduce incarcerated men and women to the One who can redeem their lives and give them lasting hope. Come and see miracles happen. Join the Jubilee, we are in need of faithful men to volunteer on the 'inside' of the Holliday Unit to disciple and evangelize and women on the 'outside' team to cook, prepare, and pray.
Missions
Our Church has formal relationships with excellent organizations around the world. There are groups that we support with monthly gifts and small teams of short-term volunteers. We'd love to see you pray, give, or go in support of these efforts. If you're interested, please let us know below or call our office at 936.295.2996.
